This Handbook focuses on the design and construction of steel bridges. It was first published in the 1970s. This current edition includes 19 chapters and six design examples. It is consistent with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, 9th edition, 2020. Chapters cover steel bridge fabrication, selection of bridge type, the preparation of shop drawings, and design considerations such as redundancy, fatigue, bearing design, load rating, and corrosion protection. The appendices include various design examples of two- and three-span composite I-girder and tub-girder bridges.
